LOL who cares about the 70s and 80s? the 90s and 2000s matter. Tendulkar has been the best batsman of our era in the last 15 years. I cannot tell who is better - Gavaskar or Tendulkar as i hav never seen Gavaskar but remember that 241notout vs Australia in 2004? Tendulkar was facing Brett Lee bowling at 150-155km/h isn't that as fast as the other aussie bowlers? The fastest ball is 161km/h or 100.0miles an hour by Shoaib Akhar remember WC2003? Tendulkar killed Akthar and Pakistan.

Emperor Vivian in the Packer Series and the Aus tours from 1976-80 tore apart these attacks on much faster, bouncier tracks WITHOUT even a helmet, with no batsman protecting rules, on much larger grounds (pre-ropes) and WON, not just saved tests and ODIs for WI. He had a runrate well above 4 ranging around 6 and more. Our own Gavaskar faced those men too, and was far better than T'kar and remains India's greatest ever bat.

The Aus attacks from 1970-84 were the second greatest, fastest and fearsome (after the WI of the 70s and 80s in cricketing history). Lillee, Thommo bowling at over 100 mph, and tearaways like Walker, Gilmour, Pascoe, Hogg, Prior, Malone and later very fast men like Lawson, Rackemann etc made the Aus attacks of the 70s and 80s much faster, more formidable and much more feared than 90 and after including their present attacks.

Sorry to burst your bubble - Gillespie NEVER played in that series. And in the 1st test McGrath and Warne along with club-level bowlers held fort, and the gr8 man milked 61 in 133 and 0; 2nd test, he again milked 116 in 191 and 52 in 122; 3rd test he made 45 in 53 and 4. ONLY one innings at over 4 per over in good batting conditions and benign pitches, that too 45.

Yeh he whipped Warne in the 90 and after best batting conditions, and on the best batting tracks of the subcontinent and Sharjah when just about EVERYBODY slaughtered him. Warne rates T'kar the best of his era .... he rates EMPEROR ISAAC VIVIAN ALEXANDER RICHARDS THE GREAT the greatest of the 1970 and after period.

And as for as McGrath, Gillepie and Lee goes, Tendulkar won the Man of the Series in the 3 Test match series against Australia, that too in Australia in 1999. All those fast bowlers along with Shane Warne were present there. India lost 3-0, but Tendulkar played the lone warrior role, and won the Man of the Series

I that so ? Let me remember ...... I guess Tendulkar whipped Warne likeno one else ever did !! Warne once said, "Sachin is the best batsman in my time without doubt, daylight second. Brian Lara third !!". Another comment from Shane Warne " I'll be going to bed having nightmares of Sachin just running down the wicket and belting me back over the head for six"
