Description:

G1 Magazine Feb '07 Guitar One's "stunt guitarist" Chris Buono gives you an in-depth look into the world of pedal mods. The idea behind the video was to demo distortion pedals (Ibanez TS-9s, Boss Super Overdrive, Pro Co Rat, Boss Metal Zone, Dunlop Fuzz Face) that were to be modded by Keeley and Analogman in a pre-mod state, send them out for mods, then after getting them back, demo them in a post-mod state. With the same '73 "Bionic" black Strat you've seen on countless G1 clips, he rips through the same licks, with the same guitar, the same cord, the same amp, the same cables-even the same batteries and new strings-for each pedal in pre- and post-mod states so you can clearly hear the difference.

Maybe this is a stupid question? But why is it that the OEM manufacturers don't MOD their own pedal instead of sending them to Keeley and Analogman. Seems kinda dumb. Perhaps my ear isn't up to a professional players standards yet but is the effort worth the payoff? Just curious.
