Hell yeah...I'm only 28 and have much more of an appreciation for stuff like this than today's crap. Well said WhatsAYak. I'm more than double your age. Good to know some people like you appreciate decent music.

Another thing: Pop music didn't use to be divided into so many markets. Pop, rock, bubblegum, vocal music (e.g. tom jones, bobby vinton, dusty springfield), instrumental music, soul, and even a little country, reggae, and gospel were all in the same Top 40 in years past, providing the interested listener (including kids like myself) with real variety without constantly turning the dial.

My feelings exactly...being I went to HS in the mid-90s, there's a certain nostalgia associated w/hits of 93-97...seems music in general took a certain nosedive in quality. Take a look @ how many recent hits have resorted to the deplorable process of "sampling" (the Black Eyed Peas' "Pump It", Rhianna's "SOS", etc.)...whatever happened to the artistic integrity artists like Cliff Richard and his contemporaries took pride in?

And we're not all hung up on the '60s and '70s. Rock and roll and pop were pretty good right through the '80s. The early to mid-90s is when music took a serious nose-dive.

Thanks for your vote. We're not old fogies complaining about nothing. People today have talent, just like before. It's the record companies who are using images, fads, and hype to sell weak and mediocre music, also creating "kid" music for kids, who aren't too discriminating. There's still some good music today, but the ratio of junk to quality now runs in favor of junk.
