Sadly, the mgmt types who run the ATC system think they can attract new people for 31k/yr. Less than what you make at Costco running a register. Now they're mystified that they're critically staffed US wide. LAX had 47 controllers 2 1/2 yrs ago. We're down to 33. I did over 2,500 heart surgeries to include several heart transplants..I worked for the world renown Dr. John Kirklin. You can have two identical aircraft, flying for the same airline, having totally different reactions to situations such as weather and turbulence.
